Provided below are updates on 3 projects that your Venetian CDD is working on. The first is the landscaping of our Laurel Road buffer. This work will extend from the monument just east of Willow Chase all the way down to Myakka Park. We have engaged a landscape architect who will be presenting the final plan at our next meeting. The goal of this landscaping will be primarily to repair and replace plantings damaged by the hurricanes and completed with a focus on beautification, density and security. There are some areas now where we have folks not from our community entering through the buffer to fish in ponds, etc. Therefore, plantings will be terraced with full shrubs that have thorns or stickers to prevent walking through. This is the area where density and security will be foremost. Also for the homes that are close to Laurel Road and affected by headlights and increased sound, the same terracing and density will be used to provide a living barrier. Our goal is to start this project soon to take advantage of the rainy season approaching.
Second is the Tekwave project. First and foremost, thank you to all of our residents who are registering and updating RFIDs and amenity access cards. All of the old, unregistered cards and tags will be deactivated on April 1st. This will increase security in the neighborhood and reduce unauthorized access to our amenities.
Third, is the La Sala bar project. Last year a workgroup was formed to evaluate our River Club bar and provide a report on findings. The group did a stellar job on conducting multiple focus groups with residents, aimed at how to make the Ls Sala bar more functional and more inviting. The results indicated very similar results from all focus groups which felt that the bar needed to be larger, needed to include some screened outside area that is contiguous to the inside area, have a more central bar area and more accessible furniture. The group did site visits to other clubs, both new and existing to see how their bars were constructed and how they were being used. They came away with some great ideas and the VCDD Board has approved the engagement of an architect to provide some preliminary possibilities on how we can modify our existing space. More to come on this project.
Hopefully, this update was helpful and gives you some useful information on our current priorities to enhance the community.
